Sawn Timber in Australia, 2012-2026
This report has been produced every two years since 1985. The twelfth edition of this 300+ page study assesses both cyclical and long term prospects for demand, supply and prices, and includes a survey of end users of sawn timber and substitute products. The report is ideal for strategic decision making on investment, marketing, international trade and pricing. The report includes an executive summary, and separate chapters on the global picture, the industry structure in Australia, timber usage by market segment, timber distribution, prospects for the Australian economy, prospects for the building industry, supply of sawn timber, prospects for international trade, and price forecasts. The study reports on the results of interviews by structured questionnaires of over 400 timber merchants, builders, furniture manufacturers, and informal discussions with government, research authorities and trade associations. Forecasts for key variables, including supply and demand are provided on an annual cyclical basis for the five years to 2016, and on an annual average for the ten years to 2026. Annual price forecasts for five years are provided for softwood and hardwood. All of the major players in the industry in Australia, and governments responsible for managing forest resources are regular subscribers to this definitive study on Australia’s sawn timber industry, as are international players investing in or exporting to Australia. |
