Infrastructure and Mining

Engineering Construction in Australia, 2011/12 – 2025/2026

NOW AVAILABLE!

A detailed annual study on the outlook for the civil engineering construction sector in Australia. Covers 12 sub-sectors of civil construction, from the main transport and utilities infrastructure sectors through to mines and heavy industrial facilities.

This sector is still experiencing growth in activity following the 2000s resources-driven boom. While growth has slowed, existing plans for the next leg of energy and minerals investment, as well as further public investment in transport and utilities infrastructure, will provide strong opportunities for construction contractors and suppliers through the next five years. Some sub-sectors and regions will be better placed, however, to take advantage of the next upswing in the cycle.

Report contents

The report provides detailed forecasts for 12 sub-sectors of activity including roads, bridges, railways, harbours, water, sewerage, electricity, telecommunications, recreation, pipelines, mining and heavy industry, and other engineering construction. We provide data and forecasts by state/territory, by sector of ownership (public versus private) and who does the work (private contractors versus public sector day labour).
